B. Jackson Construction has recently refreshed their company logo as part of a larger marketing campaign to illustrate how the company has grown over the past several years and the new types of services the company now offers such as a larger focus on heavy civil construction and cold milling. As part of this campaign, B. Jackson also has updated it’s company website and brochure among other things.
Changing one’s logo, especially for a privately held, family owned and operated business, like B. Jackson Construction, can present unique challenges because many employees take a sense of pride and ownership in the existing logo and that is the “mark” existing customers have come to associate with the company.
At first, even B. Jackson’s President and Founder, Bart Jackson, wasn’t sure the company should undertake designing a new logo. Bart, as much as anyone in the organization, had a special affinity for the company’s “circle and backhoe” logo design it has sported since the B. Jackson’s inception in 1997. However, over time and with careful consideration, Bart decided a new logo would be beneficial as the company continues to grow and looks to do more work in Utah as well as the surrounding Western states.
As Jackson said, “Part of the reason we wanted to undertake this process is because we want to show a more consistent image to our customers. When I started the company back in 1997 it was just me, a used backhoe and a few employees and we focused mainly on underground utility and telecommunication services. The company has grown tremendously since then and we are now one of the largest specialty contractors in Utah and our surrounding area with well over 100 employees. We have completed major projects for Google, Utopia, the FAA, as well as UDOT and several other DOTs in the surrounding areas like in Wyoming and Nevada. We felt it was important to more clearly communicate our capabilities to both our existing customers as well as companies we haven’t had the privilege to work for…yet! And, we feel our new logo, along with our new website will help us to better convey this message.”
