As we all know, the exceptional growth that has been experienced in Salt Lake County has put a tremendous strain on west-east traffic. UDOT began a comprehensive study in 2005 entitled, “We Go,” to determine how to improve west-east and identified six (6) core projects that should help get traffic moving! B. Jackson is pleased to have been selected as one of the contractors to complete work as part of this project.
B. Jackson completed a “Flex Lane” from Redwood Road and 5400 S. to Bangerter Highway. “Flex Lanes” have been constructed across roadways throughout the country and seek to reduce traffic by making more lanes available during peak travel times. Specifically, along 5400 S., after construction is complete, there will be four lanes heading eastbound, a center turn lane, and two westbound lanes in the morning. This traffic configuration will be reversed in the evening when people are traveling home from work. UDOT is confident this will greatly improve traffic flow and be much more cost effective because the road will not be widened due to this process.
